It is only August and I have already received 16 calendars for next year from various charities. It seems that my mailbox always contains some kind of “gift” from a charity, such as greeting cards, a calendar, wrapping paper or some useless trinket that I do not need and will never use.
I feel strongly that too much of my modest gifts to charity end up paying for these useless gifts to prospective donors. I am giving contributions to the needy, ill or other unfortunates, and a large portion is being spent on junk.
If the charities persist in this silly “advertising,” I will be increasingly turned off and decrease my contributions.
