letter to the editor:

Veterans given proper burials

I read Brian Greenspun’s column July 28, “Respect is more than a budget item.”

I am a board member and on the chaplain’s committee of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 17 in Las Vegas. Every Thursday morning at 8:40 a.m., we conduct full services for indigent veterans at the Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City. There are two organizations involved in doing these services: the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 17 and the Women Veterans of Nevada. Also present are the appropriate honor guards from each branch of service. The honor guard does the playing of taps and the flag folding.

Full honors are rendered for those who have earned that service. We at VVA 17 are also available for any family who would like us to do all or part of a veterans service.
