Weekend best bets: Bon Jovi, UNLVino and ‘Charlotte’s Web’

You can drink your way across the city in the name of fundraising this weekend at the four UNLVino events raising money for UNLV's scholarship program benefiting William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration. Concerts include Bon Jovi and Kenny Chesney. Here are our best entertainment bets for the weekend:

    • Friday-Sunday: "Charlotte’s Web" at Henderson Pavilion

      From the all-time bestselling novel, ”Charlotte’s Web,” the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company brings to life the classic children’s story, starring a little pig, a clever spider and their animal friends. Tickets are $10 and shows start at 7:30 Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

    • Thursday-Friday: Las Vegas 51s at Cashman Field

      The Las Vegas 51s host the Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's. Thursday night’s game is dollar beer night, sponsored by Budweiser, and Friday’s special is a free 51s alien hat to the first 2,500 fans through the gate. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m.

    • Thursday-Sunday: UNLVino events

      UNLVino is a four-day event raising scholarship funds for UNLV hospitality students. Guests start the event off at Bubble-Licious, which features an array of champagnes, sparkling wines and exotic champagne cocktails accompanied by cuisine from the Venetian’s restaurants. The event will take place at Doge’s Palace adjacent to the Venetian’s main porte-cochere. Tickets are $125-$150 and the events start at 7 p.m.

      Sake Fever, UNLVino’s popular celebration of the most authentic and precisely crafted Asian beverages and cuisine, will immerse guests in the tropical oasis of the Mirage pool. In addition to a selection of imported and domestically brewed sakes and beers, the event features fresh fare crafted by sushi masters. Tickets are $100-$125 and the events start at 7 p.m.

      The main event and a Las Vegas tradition, UNLVino’s Grand Tasting will transform Paris’ Champagne Ballroom into an epicurean paradise, featuring a collection of international wines, specialty beers and craft cocktails complemented with cuisine prepared by UNLV’s culinary students and some of Las Vegas’ favorite restaurants. Attendees also will enjoy live entertainment including the musical stylings of a special guest DJ. Tickets are $125-$150 and the events start at 7 p.m.

      UNLVino debuts a mixology-focused "BAR-b-q". Featuring cuisine from renowned celebrity chefs Charlie Palmer, Scott Conant and Gustav Mauler, the tasting event will be elevated with craft-cocktail creations by Master Mixologist Francesco Lafranconi at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Tickets are $100-$125 and the events start at 11 a.m.

    • Members of the Kalama Polynesian Dancers group, a troupe from Denver, perform during the 21st Ho'olaule'a Pacific Islands Festival on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, in downtown Henderson.

      Thursday-Sunday: Pure Aloha Festival at the Rio

      Vizzun Entertainment presents the Pure Aloha Festival featuring carnival rides, live Polynesian entertainment, food and retail vendors. The four-day festival takes place at the Rio. Tickets are $6-$8 and doors open at 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the festival, enjoy separate ticketed concerts. On Friday, enjoy music from Katchafire, Maoli and Common Kings. Saturday's concert features Kapena and Mahi and tickets range from $28-$33. Both concerts start at 7 p.m.

      Saturday: Bon Jovi at MGM Grand Garden Arena

      Catch your favorite hits like "Livin' on a Prayer" and "It's My Life" as the Bon Jovi "Because We Can — The Tour" arrives at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Tickets are $60-$225 and the show starts at 8 p.m.

    • Friday-Saturday: Kenny Chesney at The Joint

      Kenny Chesney brings his "No Shoes Nation Tour" to The Joint at the Hard Rock. The musician received the 2012 Billboard Touring Award "Top Package" for the year's top-grossing tour and the "Road Warrior" award, celebrating his work ethic, professionalism and artistic integrity. Tickets are $150-$450 and the show starts at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

    • Saturday: Tour de Summerlin at the Vistas Park

      Tour de Summerlin is a non-competitive cycling event that features 40-, 75- and 100-mile rides through Summerlin and neighboring Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, benefiting Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada. Launching at the Vistas Community Park, 11311 Alta Drive, Tour de Summerlin is coordinated by Great Rides. More than 500 cyclists are expected to participate. Whether you’re a hardcore century rider or just enjoy getting out on the bike, each route offers plenty of bike lanes and beautiful scenery. Entry is $70-$75 for competitors and the race begins at 7 a.m.

    • Saturday: Pinwheels for Prevention at Tivoli Village

      Prevent Child Abuse Nevada is hosts its annual Pinwheels for Prevention event to celebrate April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The free event features games, prizes, a silent auction and discounted coupons for local vendors. There will also be a variety of interactive children's activities and children's performances from local community groups. A press conference is scheduled at 10:45 with guest speakers Henderson Councilwoman Schroder, Britt Chapman representing Sen. Heller's Office & Sonya Joya representing Gov. Sandoval's Office. The event begins at 8 a.m. at Tivoli Village.

    • Saturday: Sam’s Club National Barbecue Tour

      Sam’s Club National Barbecue Tour heads to Las Vegas on Saturday, hosted by series director, barbecue aficionado and cookbook author Troy Black. The event offers barbecue demonstrations and free samples of premium-quality Sam’s Club meats. The event is open to members and the public. The event will be held at 7100 Arroyo Crossing Parkway. The free event begins at 11 a.m.

      Sunday: Rehab season opener at Hard Rock Pool

      Hard Rock Hotel & Casino launches Rehab’s 10th Anniversary season with an all star lineup including Sublime with Rome. The band will perform their hits “Take It Or Leave It,” “Panic,” “Can You Feel It” and more. Tickets range from $30-$50 and doors open a 11 a.m.
