An 82-year-old man who was hit by a car Friday night has been identified, but police have yet to release the name of the woman who died.
Ernesto Castro was crossing a street in downtown Las Vegas on Friday when he and a 78-year-old woman were struck in the middle traffic lane by a 2006 Hyundai Elantra, Metro Police said. They were 66 feet away from the nearest crosswalk, police said.
The two were hit on 13th Street just south of Carson Avenue around 7:30 p.m., Metro Police Lt. David Jacoby said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and Castro was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.
The woman’s death was the 95th traffic-related fatality in Metro Police jurisdiction this year.
