A 41-year-old man who died in a motorcycle crash Saturday night in the eastern Las Vegas Valley has been identified as Carlos R. Barajas, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Barajas, of Las Vegas, died of multiple blunt force injuries suffered in the accident, the coroner said.

Police said the crash happened at 9:45 p.m. Saturday on Hollywood Boulevard, south of North Access Road. Barajas apparently lost control of the 1982 Suzuki GS850G he was riding and struck a streetlight pole.

The preliminary investigation indicates Barajas was northbound on Hollywood Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the bike hit the east curb. The impact caused the motorcycle to slide on its side and strike the pole, police said. Police said Barajas, who was thrown from the motorcycle, was transported to University Medical Center's trauma unit, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

No other vehicles were involved.

The accident was the 17th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year, police said.
