Motorcycle accident claims life of man in northeast valley

Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 | 10:42 a.m.

A motorcycle crash Saturday night in the northeast valley left a 41-year-old man dead, Metro Police reported.

Police said the accident happened at 9:45 p.m. on Hollywood Boulevard, south of North Access Road. The motorcyclist apparently lost control and struck a street light pole.

The preliminary investigation indicates the 1982 Suzuki GS85OG was traveling north on Hollywood Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the bike struck the east curb. The impact caused the motorcycle to slide on its side and collide with the street light pole, ejecting the driver, police said. No other vehicles were involved.

The man was transported to University Medical Center’s trauma unit, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release his identity pending notification of his family.

It was the 17th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year, police said.

  1. Insurance for the medical bills?

  2. Have to love the practically of Mr. Realist.

Wondering now a dead man is going to pay his bills.

A man just died, chances are leaving a family behind. Sorry that another family just lost someone in a needless accident.

  3. Mr. Lee, that is because I am a motorist who carries insurance and one of the largest expenses, especially in this state is the uninsured motorist portion of premium. If the rider wants to go out and act a fool let us just admit he made some bad decisions and drive on. The reason most Nevadans have insurance is to protect against blood sucking ambulance chasers and "Legal Lottery" players.

  4. Call me a hard hearted person but I have no sympathy for someone who decides to donate their organs through stupid behavior. I understand this organ donor may save several lives but why not preserve his own life? How many people has he hurt with his stupidity?

  5. Riding dangerously fast might have been stupid, but a little human compassion would be nice Bob.
