The whole heart and soul of President Barack Obama’s economic plan is the Republican tax rate from the Bush era. His plan includes existing corporate tax breaks and tax loopholes for wealthy job creators who are not creating jobs.

Under Obama, the Republicans — so-called job creators — are operating with the lowest tax rate in more than four decades. Many of them are making record profits. With these tax rates, the Republicans should be jumping up and clicking their heels. Instead, they are calling their own low-tax policies a total failure. Mitt Romney’s solution to this total failure is to keep Obama’s tax policies in place and to cut even more taxes for the job creators who are not creating jobs.

By the way, I watched the Republican Convention with the theme of “We Built It” in an arena that was built using public financing. The other irony is that Hurricane Isaac hit the Gulf Coast at the same time. The Ryan-Romney budget calls for deep cuts for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Maybe the Republicans can get some volunteers from Wall Street to help.
