Jayveon Taylor had touchdown runs of roughly 60 and 50 yards Friday night to lead the Bonanza football team to a 58-21 win against host Pahrump Valley in the Southwest Division opener for both schools.
Quarterback Brett Doyle passed for 250 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another score to help the Bengals open the season with consecutive wins. Last year, Bonanza finished 5-5 but failed to finish in the top four of the Southwest in missing the playoffs.
“We have great senior leadership this year and that has been the difference,” Bonanza coach Shawn Dupris said. “We have great team chemistry. Everyone has bought in. They believe in each other.”
