Doctor issues statement on death of Bishop Gorman High student

A doctor whose house is where Henderson Police found an unconscious Bishop Gorman High School student who later died Sunday issued a statement today in response to “media reports and speculation.”

In the statement, Dr. Michael Crovetti said that he and his wife did not throw or allow a party at their home and “have never provided alcohol to our kids or anybody else’s underage kids.”

Brady Caipa, 17, of Las Vegas, was found unconscious Sunday morning at the home of Crovetti in the Anthem Country Club neighborhood.

The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, pending the results of lab work that may take as long as two months to complete, according to the Clark County coroner’s office. Police have said they do not suspect foul play.

The statement, issued through a communications firm, said:

“It goes without saying that my family and I are devastated by the recent passing of Brady Caipa, a friend and fellow student of my daughters. As a parent, I can only imagine the heart break of his family and our thoughts and prayers have been with them during this difficult time.

“As Brady was at my family’s home when he died, we have been fully cooperating with the authorities in their ongoing investigation and as such, have not had any comment up to this point.

“However, due to the fact that recent media reports and speculation surrounding events that led up to Brady’s passing have started to impact my family and in particular my children, I wanted to clarify the fact that my wife and I did not throw or allow a party to be held at our home on the night of October 30, 2011. Additionally, we have never provided alcohol to our kids or anybody else’s underage kids at our home or any place else for that matter.

“On the night in question, my wife and I attended a charity function and Halloween party and had planned a night out, making arrangements for our kids accordingly. My oldest daughter attended a party at another classmate’s home and invited some of her friends to our house afterwards.

“The details surrounding Brady’s death is still an open investigation and out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation, we will have nothing further to say on this matter publically [sic]. We request that you respect the sensitivity of this matter for Brady’s family and their celebration of his life. We will continue to cooperate with the investigation and answer any questions that the authorities may have on this tragic matter.”
