CITY GOVERNMENT:

NLV city attorney job filled full-time

The North Las Vegas City Council ratified acting City Attorney Jeffrey Barr’s appointment to permanently fill the post Wednesday night.

In late July, Barr stepped in to replace Nicholas Vaskov, who resigned earlier that month citing the "political environment."

Before taking the job, Barr worked in the civil division of the North Las Vegas city attorney’s office for five years.

His new agreement with the city includes a one-year contract with a one-year option to renew. He will be paid $165,000 and a lump sum of $10,000 for the time he served as the acting city attorney.

The council can terminate the agreement at its discretion, at which time Barr would receive a severance package equal to three months salary and accrued benefits.
