Metro Police today identified an officer who shot an armed man Monday in the western valley accused of domestic violence.
Officer Jorge Marty-Pagan, 26, has been with Metro since January 2007. He is assigned to the Patrol Division in the department's Northwest Area Command.
Metro Police on Tuesday identified the man shot by Marty-Pagan as 36-year-old Las Vegas resident Allen Stout. The shooting occurred after Stout allegedly beat and choked his girlfriend, then entered a stranger’s condominium armed with a gun, police said.
Stout was shot after he allegedly refused commands to drop his black semi-automatic handgun. He was taken to University Medical Center in fair condition.
The incident began about 2 p.m. Monday when police responded to a domestic violence call in the 7300 block of Pirate Cove Road at the Marquesa condominiums, near Tenaya Way and Westcliff Drive. Authorities said Stout had left the scene by the time police arrived, prompting officers to search for him.
About three hours later, police received a call about a man trying to enter a residence in the 7200 block of Pirate Cove Road. Officers arrived and forced entry into the condo, where they found Stout armed with a handgun.
Police say Stout had forced his way into the residence, which contained two women and four children.
No officers were injured. Marty-Pagan was placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings.
