Street to be closed for storm drain project

Storm drain project

A storm drain project in northwest Las Vegas will close a street for most of next week.

Camino del Oro will be closed at Lone Mountain Road from midnight Tuesday morning until midnight Saturday morning, city officials said.

There will also be lane closures on Lone Mountain in the area.

Crews will be installing large concrete box storm drains under Lone Mountain Road as part of a $9 million flood control project on Lone Mountain Road between Rancho Drive and Decatur Boulevard.

During the closure, motorists are encouraged to use Jones or Decatur boulevards as alternatives for north-south travel.

The flood project began in January and is expected to last until summer 2012. Motorists can expect lane restrictions and delays on Lone Mountain until the project ends. Additional lane closures are scheduled for September at the intersection of Lone Mountain and Jones.

Work will also take place later on Rancho Drive between Lone Mountain and Rainbow Boulevard.

The Clark County Regional Flood District is funding the project. The contractor is Spirit Underground and PBS&J is managing construction for the city.
