Las Vegas Sun reporters Case Keefer and Ray Brewer break down the first week of high school football games and look ahead to this Friday's gridiron action.
Entering its contest against Virgin Valley on Friday night, Cedar City (Utah) had played two games and not given up a point.
The Bulldogs managed to crack the vaunted defense a little, but ultimately fell 45-20 to the Redmen.
“You hate to lose, but I was pleased with the way the kids played tonight,” Virgin Valley coach Kirk Hafen said. “They didn’t give up. They played hard. We were going up against a really good team.”
Virgin Valley actually led 6-3 at the end of the first quarter, before Cedar City opened up its offense and started to dictate the game.
Still, Virgin Valley trailed by a respectable 18 points when Hafen subbed in most of his second team to finish the game. That’s when Cedar City scored its final touchdown.
