Palo Verde still undefeated with lopsided win against Legacy

Team pages

Austin Whalen rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns Thursday and host Palo Verde remained undefeated with a 43-14 win against Legacy.

The victory avenged a 7-6 loss last year against Legacy in a game that eventually decided the Northwest Division title.

Whalen, a senior fullback, had the game’s longest scoring play when he rushed in from 74 yards out. Sophomore Ryan Beaulieu added 66 rushing yards and one touchdown on 12 carries, and senior Garrett Rost scored on a 26-yard run.

Quarterback Chaisson Prescott scored on a 1-yard run and threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Shanteau.

Palo Verde and Arbor View, the area’s two lone remaining undefeated teams, play next week in the regular season finale. The winner will capture the Northwest Division crown and home field advantage through the Sunset Regional playoffs.
