Cheyenne High’s Drew Calhoun had more than 100 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns Friday, and the Desert Shields closed the game with 30 unanswered points in a 52-28 victory against host Legacy.
Legacy’s loss gives Shadow Ridge the final playoff spot in the Northwest Division. Shadow Ridge beat Faith Lutheran Thursday, then had to wait one day to see if its season would continue.
Several Shadow Ridge players were at Legacy for the game, vocally cheering for a Cheyenne win.
Kenneth Counts accounted for 100 all-purpose yards and a touchdown for Cheyenne, and Jaylon Walker also scored for the Desert Shields.
Shadow Ridge, which has won four straight games, will play at defending state champion Bishop Gorman next week to open the playoffs.
