A 19-year-old woman suspected of driving drunk and killing two people in Henderson last month pleaded not guilty today in Clark County District Court.

Anita Mann, of Henderson, is charged with two felony counts of driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in death in connection with the Feb. 16 crash on Horizon Ridge Parkway that killed Karen Hicks and Louis Madden, both 65, of Henderson.

She appeared in front of Judge Valorie Vega this morning with attorney Steve Wolfson and pleaded not guilty to both counts.

Vega set a trial date of 10:30 a.m. on May 10. She also scheduled a status check for April 6 to allow attorneys to negotiate.

A Clark County grand jury earlier this month indicted Mann on the two felony counts and a preliminary hearing was vacated.

Mann is being held in the Clark County Detention Center on $240,000 bail. She is also facing charges of hit-and-run and failure to render aid, which are misdemeanors, in connection with a separate crash that police say occurred about 10 minutes before the fatal collision.

Police said Mann’s blood-alcohol level at the time of the wreck was .26, which would have been more than three times the legal limit for a drinker of legal age.

Mann was a private first class in the Nevada National Guard.
