Metro Police have arrested a man in connection with the hit-and-run Monday night on the Las Vegas Strip that injured three pedestrians.
Metro spokesman Marcus Martin said a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper stopped the suspect's vehicle at 1:37 a.m. near the Maryland Parkway and Windmill Lane intersection.
A Metro officer assisted at the traffic stop, and the suspect was arrested for drunken driving and drugs, officials said.
Martin said the suspect, who has not been identified yet, likely will be charged with hit-and-run for Monday night's incident.
Police said a man drove his black pickup truck onto a sidewalk at 7:20 p.m. Monday in front of Margaritaville Las Vegas, 3555 Las Vegas Boulevard South, and struck three pedestrians before leaving the scene.
All three pedestrians were transported to UMC Trauma, but none of them had life-threatening injuries, according to Lt. Dennis Flynn, Metro watch commander.

Wasted away again...Las Vegas is a magnet for drunk drivers. It's one of the "externalities" of the casino and liquour industries--and the citizens pick up the tab. Now we can lock him up for 100 years and pay a million dollars to feed and clothe him for the rest of his life. We can also pay for his defense and appeals, and health care. This is what you get from a city that exists by getting people drunk.

Some areas of the strip have barriers to protect the people walking on the sidewalks.. such as in front of NYNY, MGM, Palazzo etc... When I contacted the city I was told that it was up to the individual hotel properties as to whether they put up barriers.. Does anyone else see a problem with that answer???
BTW nice job NHP and Metro for catching this scumbag
I'm confused,
Did he strip, then hit him?
Seriously (Some areas of the strip have barriers to protect the people walking on the sidewalks...)- The barriers on the strip are not to protect the pedestrians, they're there to prevent the pedestrians from crossing the street at those locations. They force the pedestrians to use the pedestrian bridges over the roadway.
All he has to do is to claim that he thought someone threw something at his vehicle, and since it was such a bad area, he was afraid to stop. What the hell, it worked for someone else.
@ ddrabek - those barriers may serve a purpose of funneling people onto the pedestrian walkways but they ALSO by their very nature serve the purpose of protecting the people from cars just by being there inbetween the two. Have you ever walked the strip when it is really busy? Certain areas are VERY challenging, to say the least. Walking on the edge of the sidewalk does not feel or look very safe. When there is a barrier present it's a whole different story.
If the city can spend the money on beautification of the medians(including anti-jaywalking fences) then the city can spend the money for other safety issues such as this.
Thanks for playing.
@unlv702 - I believe you mean "deluded," don't you? Your username implies that you attend/attended UNLV. Not a very impressive posting from someone who purports to be at or beyond college level education. It states clearly at the top of this discussion that comments such as yours are not welcome here. Perhaps refresher courses in reading for comprehension and spelling are in order? I'm just sayin'...
Interesting that the driver owns a blackie with a Nv plate. Switch with me or could I borrow the roomies truck for tonight and I'll join you in front of Jimmie's.
