Las Vegas police are searching tonight for a man who drove his pickup truck onto a sidewalk in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, struck and injured three pedestrians, then left the scene.
All three pedestrians were transported to UMC Trauma, but none of them had life-threatening injuries, according to Lt. Dennis Flynn, Metro watch commander.
Flynn said the accident occurred about 7:20 p.m. in front of Margaritaville Las Vegas, 3555 Las Vegas Boulevard South.
A man driving a black pickup truck was traveling north on Las Vegas Boulevard when his truck jumped the curb and struck the three pedestrians, Flynn said.
The driver than fled from the scene to the north, Flynn said.

What?!?!?? Why?!?!?!?
I swear thats why I stopped walking on the stip, its like playing a game of Frogger but while still on the sidewalk. I hope the people will be alright.
How in the hell did this guy get away? No cops anywhere, what's up with that.
Another reason for barriers separating the street from the thousands of tourists inches away on the sidewalk.
With the congestion on the streets on the Strip I find it amazing that this vehicle managed to make a clean get-away :(
azsk8fan: I agree. Even a sauntering bicycle cop should have been able to catch up to this guy.
This is a headline that runs on an average of once a month: "Driver hits pedestrian(s) on the Strip." New signage prohibiting pedestrians running across the road (like in Tijuana) might help, since maybe many of them in the streets are from Mexico. Either that, or the tourists are getting dumber each month. . . .
Or, it just might be a clear demonstration of Darwin's theory - the most able and smart are able to reproduce, and the others go extinct or are simply mowed down in Stip traffic. . .
Death Race 2000, no 2010.
mamabear, let me repeat the first sentence of this article, which you obviously didn't bother to read before gracing us with your comments:
"Las Vegas police are searching tonight for a man WHO DROVE HIS PICKUP TRUCK ONTO A SIDEWALK in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, struck and injured three pedestrians, then left the scene".
So spare us your ignorant, bigotted input until you've actually read what you're babbling about.
Thank you and have a nice day.
mamabear - prove your once-a-month average theory
You think alcohol was involved???? For the driver - not the pedestrians (unless, of course, alcohol is involved with the ones who get hit while crossing in the middle of the block or on the corner of Flamingo & LV Blvd under the pedestrian over passes).
@mamabear
I am not sure what is more offensive, your overt racism or your misunderstanding of Darwin's theories. Either way you need to go back to school and sod some serious growing up.
There will always be drunks driving and jaywalking the strip. Barriers might be effective for those on the sidewalk, but maybe it's time to close part of the strip to through traffic.
Once again, I completely agree with Seriously on the sidewalk barriers thing!
@mamabear
Do you see the irony in your bigoted comment mamabear? With your logic, you advocate your own demise.
A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.
is it possible that the driver had no insurance or even a license? i wonder...
More than likely bam or the fact that they were drinking and after realizing they hit pedestrians on the sidewalk, fled in fear of being caught and put in jail. People flee an accident for a reason, just don't know this idiots reason yet. Thank goodness no one was seriously hurt or killed.
Some areas of the strip have barriers to protect the people walking on the sidewalks.. such as in front of NYNY, MGM, Palazzo etc... When I contacted the city I was told that it was up to the individual hotel properties as to whether they put up barriers.. Does anyone else see a problem with that answer???
yep and the problem is that the city doesn't want to take the responsibility and leave the responsibility to the casino's.
I get yer point Seriously!
Do you know how easy it is to get "jostled" into (or too close to) the roadway on the strip on a busy day???
You can't blame the ped's...they's jus' walkin' along with the herd, when all of the sudden, BAM!!!
I guess we just don't give 2 hoots about it, because this has been an issue for many years, and there have been dead people, and nothing's been done.
It is just as stupid having the bus stops right on top of the roadway. Dead people there too, and not just a few! It's one of the "perks" we locals get.
Walking on the strip, or waitin' for the bus, both very DANGEROUS.
How goofy is that???
I'm sorry! I only had tea martoonies!
Maybe he just robbed the TI and was making his getaway. Wait, he was going toward TI, so maybe not.
With the amount of traffic in this area, and the number of people, it's amazing that he got away at all. You can walk faster than traffic flow through there.
mamabear what would inspire you to make such a nasty comment? Perhaps you know what happened and just trying to deflect from the real culprit?
Guys, leave mamabear alone - she's just not herself until she's had those first couple of beers in the morning and then puts her teeth in.
I don't see how they got away. When I drive on the strip I am always in 10 mph traffic. People saw this happen & no one followed him so police could find him? Oh I forgot we live in Las Vegas not many people will go out of their way to get involved.
Can you say Mexican?
I would think the cameras up and down the strip will reveal what they need to know....they always do.
Can you say Mexican?
