Henderson’s Muhammad continues to roll at US Open

Henderson teen tennis sensation Asia Muhammad advanced to the third round of the US Open junior tournament with a straight set victory on Tuesday.
Muhammad knocked off doubles partner and fellow American Gail Brodsky 6-3, 6-4 to move into the round of 16 in New York. The 18-year-old former Coronado student will face the No. 16 seed Beatrice Capra on Thursday.
Muhammad and Brodsky lost together in the first round of the junior girls' double tournament 6-1, 4-6, (5-10) to the Russian duo of Daria Gavrilova and Irina Khromacheva.
