Desert Oasis’ defense held Sierra Vista’s offense to less than 100 yards as it cruised to a 39-0 victory Friday night.
The Diamondbacks improved to 6-2 with the victory and clinched a playoff spot.
“The kids are excited. The parents are excited. Just the program in general is excited. We’ve kind of accomplished what we wanted to accomplish,” Desert Oasis coach Faron Seibel said. “Now, we need to see if we can compete at that level.”
It’s quite the feat, as Desert Oasis is only in its second year as a school and eligible for the playoffs for the first time. Friday’s victory carried a little extra emotion as many of the Desert Oasis players previously attended Sierra Vista.
“They really wanted to play good going against their buddies on the other side,” Seibel said.
