Las Vegas Sun reporters Ray Brewer and Steve Silver break down last week's high school football contests and preview this Friday's upcoming games including the Henderson Bowl between Green Valley and Basic as well as the Cleat game Chaparral and Eldorado.

Spring Valley High's Taj Allen had three touchdown runs Friday night to lead the Grizzlies to a 35-28 Southwest Division victory against host Bonanza.

Spring Valley (5-3) has won two straight games after losing in consecutive weeks to Durango and Desert Oasis.

“We are paying more attention to detail,” Spring Valley coach Kelly Murphy said. “We weren’t doing things the right way (during the losing streak). But we got those things corrected.”

Spring Valley extended its lead to 28-14 in the third quarter when it blocked a punt and recovered for a touchdown.
