The FBI has issued a nationwide alert for Miguel Antonio Padron who is wanted for the murder of a 50-year-old woman and the attempted murder of her 24-year-old son, both of Reno.

The woman, her son, and his children went to get gas at a Reno convenience store on July 25 when three men approached the woman's son, including 22-year-old Padron, the FBI said. The men pursued her son back to his vehicle, where his mother tried to shield her son, the FBI said. Padron allegedly fired a handgun, striking both mother and son.

The woman died at the scene and her son recovered from gunshot wounds to his chest, the FBI said.

Padron has been charged with murder and attempted murder using a firearm, and a state arrest warrant has been issued, the FBI said. A federal arrest warrant has been issued by a U.S. District Court on Aug. 7 after Padron was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Padron was born in California and is 5-foot-6-inches tall, weighs 130 pounds and has black, shaved hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on his upper right arm, "Itezel," and a tattoo on his left leg, "Brown Pride." The FBI believes he may have fled to Tijuana, Mexico, or Sinaloa, Mexico. Authorities believe he is affiliated with the Brown Pride Locos gang.

Anyone with information on Padron is asked to call the nearest FBI office or nearest American embassy or consulate.
