NLV corrections officer charged in attempted prison escape

North Las Vegas Police detectives Thursday arrested a corrections officer who allegedly tried to help a prisoner escape from the North Las Vegas Detention Center.

Detectives arrested 35-year-old Hollis Salahuddin, who has been working at the city's jail for three years and eight months, police said.

Salahuddin was charged with one felony count of aiding a prisoner to escape and one felony count of forgery by altering, deleting or obliterating computerized data, North Las Vegas Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said. She has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Salahuddin was arrested after an investigation that was started when unauthorized changes were found to a prisoner's record, police said. A criminal complaint alleges that Salahuddin forged information on a prisoner's computer record in an attempt to aid in his escape.

There is no evidence that any prisoners escaped as a result of Salahuddin's actions, Coon said. She will be placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation, police said.
