A North Las Vegas man who allegedly rented out homes that didn't belong to him was arrested Wednesday.

Eric Alpert, part owner of Diddie Limited Partnership, was taken to the North Las Vegas Detention Center on 22 charges including four counts of burglary, theft and obtaining money under false pretenses; seven counts of forgery; and three counts of offering a false document to be filed. Alpert's bail is set at $190,000.

Authorities allege that Alpert, 54, would write lease agreements to renters for unoccupied homes, police said.

The original owners of the houses were unaware their homes were being rented and the renting tenants were unaware that the houses belonged to someone else.

Alpert operated out of an office in the 3200 block of Eastern Avenue, but did the lease agreements in North Las Vegas. He did not have a business license to operate a property management company in North Las Vegas.

Alpert faced similar charges in 2004 and the Nevada State Board of Realtors revoked his license at the time, records show. A Realtor cannot obtain a North Las Vegas business license without the state license.

North Las Vegas Police are continuing to investigate Alpert's business dealings and his company.

Anyone who feels that they might be a victim is asked to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at (702) 633-9111, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
