Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 | 8:56 a.m.

Accident area

A 31-year-old man died in a single-car crash early this morning, North Las Vegas Police said.

About 1:30 a.m. North Las Vegas Police officers arrived in the 3700 block of East Carey Road where they found a North Las Vegas man in a black 2000 Honda Civic.

The man had been traveling west on Carey at a high rate of speed, North Las Vegas Police investigators said. The driver lost control of the car and spun out of control, striking a white 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck that was parked and unoccupied along the north side of the street, police said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical crews, police said. His identity and cause of death will be announced by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

North Las Vegas traffic investigators said the man was not wearing a seatbelt.

It has not been determined if drugs or alcohol contributed to this death.

This is the fifth fatal traffic collision in North Las Vegas this year, police said.

Anyone with information about this crash may contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
