A 2-year-old North Las Vegas boy who was rushed to a hospital after falling into a backyard pool near Cheyenne Avenue and Civic Center Drive is on life support.
The boy was pulled from the water and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was started until paramedics arrived, police said. North Las Vegas police had reported today that the boy drowned, but issued a statement this afternoon saying the child is on life support.
The boy was unconscious and not breathing when taken to University Medical Center's pediatric trauma unit, where medical authorities called the Clark County Coroner's Office.
But before a coroner's representative arrived at the hospital, medical personnel detected a heart beat and the boy was placed on life support, police said.
Emergency dispatchers received the call at 11:13 a.m. Thursday at 1300 E. Brooks Ave.
Family members said they were eating lunch in the house and noticed the toddler was missing, police said.
Police and Child Protective Services are continuing to investigate this incident.

Poor Precious Innocent Child that depended on his Parent(s)for his very life. RIP Innocent Lamb.
It's November, DRAIN the pool?
it never ends. how sad.
HANG ON LITTLE BOY; DON'T LET GO.
Praying that the little guy makes it.
Drain the pool? So, what then the kid could fall 8 feet into a concrete hole?
And why is it I'm reading about another child drowning? There's all the info. available, and where where the parents?

This is a tragedy and an accident. Just because of the side of town you live on does not automatically issue poor parenting skills. It seems that people have forgotten that Nellis is in North Las Vegas. We have plenty of upstanding and intelligent men and women living in and around North Las Vegas. Everyone instead of saying that these parents were horrible should be praying for this little boy for a miraculous recovery. I do not know this family and am sure that they are experiencing so many feelings at this time and thinking if only we had done this or that. Accidents unfortunately happen and some are more tragic than just a bump on the head. Keep this child and his family in your thoughts and prayers instead of just assuming they are horrible people!
