Police standoff

When North Las Vegas Police officers arrived about 6:15 a.m. Friday to a domestic disturbance call in the 3500 block of Coleman Street, a woman fired shots at them, police said.

The woman, identified as 52-year-old Carla Eagleton, then ran inside the house with her grandson near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Gowan Avenue, said Chrissie Coon, spokeswoman for the North Las Vegas Police Department.

No one was injured in the exchange of gunfire, but a 5 1/2-hour standoff ensued.

At about 7:30 a.m., Eagleton released her 10-year-old grandson, who had not been harmed.

North Las Vegas SWAT Team officers took Eagleton into custody after the standoff, Coon said. She was treated for minor injuries.

Eagleton has been booked into the North Las Vegas Detention Center for two counts of attempted murder and one count of felony domestic battery with a deadly weapon, Coon said.
