Metro Police today identified the man arrested in the shooting of his wife this morning in a residence in the northwest Las Vegas Valley today.

Jose Gueta-Castaneda, 48, the husband of a woman who was shot and killed, was arrested at a park near a house in the 2400 block of Valparaiso Street near Torrey Pines Drive and Smoke Ranch Road, Officer Bill Cassell said.

Gueta-Castaneda has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder with the use of a deadly weapon and attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon, Cassell said.

Arriving officers spotted Gueta-Castaneda and took him into custody, Cassell said.

Officers were called to the house on Valparaiso Street at 10:59 a.m. Wednesday.

The initial call reported a domestic dispute involving a shooting, Officer Barbara Morgan said.

When officers arrived they found a woman dead, she said. "The wife is deceased," Morgan said.

The Clark County Coroner's Office will identify the woman after family has been notified.
