Updated Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 | 9:12 a.m.

North Las Vegas Police are continuing to investigate an officer-involved shooting that happened Friday night near Ann Road and Revere Street.

A 33-year-old North Las Vegas police officer came into contact with one or more men at about 7:20 p.m. Friday, said Chrissie Coon, spokesperson for the North Las Vegas Police Department. An altercation between the officer and at least one of the men followed, Coon said.

At least one of the men was armed with a handgun. The officer fired his weapon, striking the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Coon said.

The officer has been with the department for 16 months, she said.

Two other officers involved in the incident suffered non-life threatening injuries, Coon said.

Ann Road from Commerce Street to Camino del Norte was closed to traffic as the investigation unfolded late into the night.
