The 53-year-old man accused in a double murder in Las Vegas last year, who was arrested in Utah on Thursday, waived extradition today.

Thomas William Randolph appeared before District Court Judge Rodney Page who did not set bail. Randolph will be brought back to Las Vegas by Metro Police.

Randolph appeared before the same judge who presided over his 1989 murder trial in the death of his first wife, which ended in an acquittal.

Randolph was arrested at his parents' home in Clearfield, Utah, on a murder warrant from Las Vegas after he was indicted for killing his wife and another man involved in plotting to kill her.

Randolph is accused of hiring Michael James Miller to kill his wife, 57-year-old Sharon Causse Randolph. Metro Police became suspicious after arriving at the couple's home May 8 to a call of a home invasion.

Police investigators discovered that Randolph waited outside his own home while his wife went in and discovered Miller, who was posing as a burglar, according to the indictment.

She was shot in the head. The indictment alleges Randolph then killed Miller. The husband made it look like there was a struggle for the gun. Police have claimed it was a plot to collect on Sharon Causse Randolph's $400,000 insurance policy.

In 1989 Randolph was acquitted of a similar incident in Farmington, Utah. Prosecutors said he shot his wife at the time, Rebecca Randolph, in 1986 in a plot to collect $250,000 from her life insurance policy. Randolph's attorneys convinced the jury that her death was a suicide and he was acquitted.

Randolph pleaded guilty and served time in prison for witness tampering, accused of plotting to have a trial witness killed. Randolph's record has been expunged.

According to the Deseret News, Randolph greeted the judge as he was led into the courtroom today:

"Hi, Judge Page! Nice to see you! I'm sorry I didn't send you a Christmas card again."
