Summit to focus on BC tourism

Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 | 5:28 p.m.

A Boulder City Tourism Summit Feb. 19 will bring Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and Las Vegas tourism professionals to town for the afternoon.

The invitation-only lunch, planned for noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Boulder Creek Golf Club Pavilion, will showcase tourism draws to Boulder City — businesses, events and attractions.

It is planned as a networking opportunity for tourism-centered operations within Boulder City and in the greater Las Vegas Valley, City Councilman Mike Pacini said.

Pacini chairs the Boulder City Tourism Commission and sits on the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, which are sponsoring the event. The Boulder City Tourism Commission has focused on reaching out into the Las Vegas Valley to bring tourists from other parts of Clark County to Boulder City with its slogan, "A World Away For A Day."

"We want to bring everyone together under one tent and let them network," he said. "Motels, hotels, restaurants, shops within town can reconnect and at the same time reach out to all the tourism professionals in Las Vegas."

Those who would like to attend should RSVP by Feb. 5 to the City Clerks Office, 293-9208, or by e-mail to LKrumm@bcnv.org.

Cassie Tomlin can be reached at 948-2073 or cassie.tomlin@hbcpub.com.

  1. B.C. could become the bike riding captial of Nevada if they properly connect the city downtown to the River Mountains Loop Trail soon to be completed through B.C.; and Bootleg Canyon. The River Mountains Loop trail will provide a 34.5 mile loop around the Moutains connecting Boulder City by trail to Hoover Dam, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Henderson, Las Vegas, Clark County Wetlands Parks, Lake Las Vegas, etc....Make yourself bike friendly and they will come.....Happy Trails....
