Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 | 10:29 a.m.

Pedestrian death

A woman died after being struck this morning by a semi truck on U.S. 95 near Cal-Nev-Ari in southern Clark County, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The woman was struck at about 5:36 a.m. Monday and three Nevada Highway Patrol investigators were examining the scene on the remote stretch of highway, Trooper Kevin Honea said.

The identities of both the woman and the truck driver haven't been released, Honea said.

Traffic was backed up for a short time on U.S. 95 until vehicles were diverted onto the dirt shoulder, Honea said.

Metro Police Lt. L. Chavez said investigators haven't determined whether the incident was an accident or a suicide.
