Funeral for Metro Officer Trevor Nettleton.
Six alleged gang members charged in the murder of a Metro Police officer were arraigned this morning in North Las Vegas Justice Court.
Saul Williams Jr., 20, Prentice Marshall, 18, Quadre Scott, 18, Adrian Pena, 17, Michael Ferguson, 25, and Emmitt Ferguson, 18, appeared in front of Justice of the Peace Stephen Dahl. The men are charged in the shooting death of Trevor Nettleton, a Metro officer who was killed in the garage of his North Las Vegas home on Nov. 19.
Pena is being charged as an adult.
Nettleton, 30, was confronted in his garage in the 1100 block of Emerald Stone Avenue near Lone Mountain Road and Donna Street shortly after midnight, just after returning home from work. The three-year Metro veteran wasn't in uniform when he was shot — first in the leg, followed by a fatal shot to the chest, authorities said.
A preliminary hearing for the six co-defendants was set for Dec. 17.
The group is alleged to belong to the Woods gang. Police officers armed with assault rifles and other weapons flanked the entrances to the court. About a dozen officers as well as friends and family members of both the victim and the accused sat in the courtroom for the proceedings.
Williams, Marshall, Scott and Pena are charged with one count each of murder with a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang; as well as one count each of conspiracy to commit robbery; burglary while in possession of a firearm and attempted robbery, all with criminal gang enhancements.
Emmitt Ferguson and Michael Ferguson are facing charges of accessory to murder with gang enhancements.
Williams, Marshall, Scott and Pena are being held without bail; Emmitt Ferguson's bond was set at $500,000 but he remains in custody. North Las Vegas Detention Center records show Michael Ferguson is being held without bond on the accessory charge as well as on separate charges of battery domestic violence and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The criminal complaint against the men charges that Pena acted as a lookout, a getaway driver and provided the firearm used in the crime; Scott also allegedly acted as a lookout; Marshall, armed with a gun, and Williams, are said to be the two who entered the Nettletons' garage. Marshall, the complaint charges, pulled the trigger and Williams attempted the robbery.
Emmitt Ferguson and Michael Ferguson allegedly aided in concealing the gun used in the crime, according to the complaint.
The details of the crime were further outlined in an arrest report released last week.
The arrest report indicated Marshall, who was shot in the testicles during an exchange of gunfire in Nettleton's garage, admitted to police that he was the gunman.
It also indicated that Emmitt Ferguson knew the gun had been used in the crime; the complaint says he aided the other four by concealing it at the request of Williams, his stepbrother.
Nettleton was laid to rest last week after a funeral procession that spanned the length of the Las Vegas Strip. He is survived by his wife, a 2-year-old son and 2-month-old daughter.

If you want to keep costs down, let me have one minute with the six of them. My services come for free and splatter will be kept to a minimum.
I live near the town this officer was raised. When I see these thugs it just makes me sick. To think there is a widow and two very young children having to celebrate the season of peace and love with this on hearts.
GrandmaCrabby:
Ditto, and I hope they do it soon...
Theys good boys. They mama sayed so.
Make that SEVEN people going to hell . . .
Why waste these young men's life in prison? I say make them part of the 1st troop surge into the Afghanistan mountains. Then we will see what real men they thought they were...
At least the ridiculous charade of "protecting" the identity of the 17 year old scumbag is now over.
I didn't see the comment by rejco before it was deleted. I suspect that some posters get off by posting outrageous/upsetting comments.
Anonymity is their protector but there is a point where an IP address SHOULD be blocked.
Hey rejco, what deals do these men deserve?? I think none, commit the crime do the time. This crime was awful!!
It's tragic, one dead cop, and just six more bruthas going to prison..
Crack, Meth and what they where on made them do it,that will be there defence. Whos gang where they in,or are there only 6 in a gange?
These guys have about the same chance of getting a plea bargain as the St. Louis Rams have of winning the next three Super Bowls.
Let the games begin. This is going to turn into a 3-ringed circus: 6 defendants, 6 defense attorneys defending the guilty poor who can't afford an attorney who is at least paid to care. Not saying they deserve a chance to prove their innocence or even have a fighting one, but if that's the case let's not even put up the charade and play pretend. These gangsters play games and god with innocent citizens' lives, lets return the favor. At least we have justice on our side. What's their reasoning? These guys are guiltier than a fox in a hen house and deserve to be lined up single file and shot with one bullet.
Get a rope and be done with it.
I don't know whose hair is worse, the punks or the attorney with the mullet.
I just want to say this regarding the six young men who are facing death or prison for life! All of these men are very young, they may have wanted to be in a gang not really relizing that it would lead them to where they are headed. I feel sorry for the Officer's family, but these young men could be anyone's sons. In stead of putting them down there should be more programs the embrance youths who did not come from money to help give them guidance not to end up where these men are headed. I do not like what they did which was very stupid. Now they will have to pay with their life because it is over! May God help us all!
rejco, get a clue tough guy.
I want to flip the switch,..... please.. turn it on, turn it off, turn it on, turn it off.. when i start to smell the burnt flesh i'll leave it on.......
Not coming from money, does not give anyone the right to take anothers life. Two young children will now grow up not knowing there dad. Why did they have to shoot the man to rob him...boo hoo they will get what they deserve.
rejecto: do the math. Six punks but only eleven testicles. Marshall is now known as "Sweetpea."
The vengeful, violent comments above that are directed at these boys are barely distinguished from the awfulness of the crime they committed. These are immature, ignorant boys brought up in a culture which celebrates violence of any kind. If you punish them, wouldn't you also have to indict the culture which taught them how to rob and kill? They weren't born to kill - they were taught.
Cara, would you please be cognizant of your stereotyping.
ssenjo: Yes, of course, its the culture's fault! Your advocacy is so compelling. Let's not punish them...let's punish society instead for not doing a better job of providing them with distractions. These fine young men probably had spent most of the evening in Bible Study and just went out to have some fun!
Who's the nitwit that called these malignant turds, boys? These men are the product of a society that rewards bad behavior. Their mamas will be in court weeping that their lil' darlings could not do such a thing. I say boil them down for soap. throw the mamas in too.
I adore the attire of the first four. If their panties are pink I'll donate $1K to the Sheriff's favorite charity.
I like the way they are trying to look macho. Wait till the bigger cons start turning them upside down. There will be no smugness then, only tears. The first thing they'll order from the commissary is a bible. Wanna bet?
Are there different colored jumpsuits depending on how many balls a dude has? Prentice is looking gooood. He'll make some big buck real happy in the pokey.
I would not blame their actions all on the "Ghetto" as stated. Who said all of them came from a ghetto life? There are many young young people who have gone in the wrong direction. I am just saying they followed the wrong group or person(s). There is always going to be those who are not going do right no matter what. There are parents who try to raise their children correctly and many of them still go astray. No doubt those six men have messed their lives up forever! What a sad waste! Race or color has nothing to do with it. There are all types sitting in the prisons and jailhouses. More youth programs are needed to give young people a more positive choices. Those young men who shot up colleges not all of them came from bad environments or had bad parents. Something has really gone wrong; many programs that could help trouble people are being cut. Don't just blame the parent!
ssenjo:... Please cut and paste the stereotyping that Cara has done. I would like to be "cognizant" of her indiscretion.
I think that this terrible crime meets with the approval of some of the ghetto dwellers. They seem to enjoy when a white policeman dies. They defend the actions of their friends from the ghetto as "somebody elses fault". There aren't enough youth programs. Meaning the ghetto parents don't want to supervise their chillun.
Remember Night Basketball? The Government spent a lot of money building basketball courts for the ghetto kids to play. Put up lighting and paid for supervisors to watch the little bastiges play BB instead of crawling in your windows at night. There just isn't enough that we can do for them. I don't expect the fools to be grateful and I certainly don't want to hear them defend murderers.
The police in washington state must have paid attention to what happened in north las vegas because when they caught their cop killer, there was no need for any defence attorneys or paying to house the scumbag for 10 to 20 years and pay for all those appeals.
Sort of reminds me of my favorite Little Rascals episode.
Ms. Crabtree: Stymie, please use Isthmus in a sentence.
Stymie: Isthmus be my lucky day.
For dese boyz, dis is a very unlucky day.
Mr. Pena must be thinking "How did I get mixed up with this crew?"
Let them fry in peace!
Henri Verdoux: Despair is a narcotic. It lulls the mind into indifference. Wars, conflict - it's all business. One murder makes a villain; millions, a hero. Numbers sanctify, my good fellow!
The Prosecutor: Never, never in the history of jurisprudence have such terrifying deeds been brought to light. Gentlemen of the jury, you have before you a cruel and cynical monster. Look at him!
[all heads turn to face Verdoux, who turns around himself to look behind]
The Prosecutor: Observe him, gentlemen. This man, who has brains, if he had decent instincts, could have made an honest living. And yet, he preferred to rob and murder unsuspecting women. In fact, he made a business of it. I do not ask for vengeance, but for the protection of society. For this mass killer, I demand the extreme penalty: that he be put to death on the guillotine. The State rests its case.
Judge: Monsieur Verdoux, you have been found guilty. Have you anything to say before sentence is passed upon you?
Henri Verdoux: Oui, monsieur, I have. However remiss the prosecutor has been in complimenting me, he at least admits that I have brains. Thank you, Monsieur, I have. And for thirty-five years I used them honestly. After that, nobody wanted them. So I was forced to go into business for myself. As for being a mass killer, does not the world encourage it? Is it not building weapons of destruction for the sole purpose of mass killing? Has it not blown unsuspecting women and little children to pieces? And done it very scientifically? As a mass killer, I am an amateur by comparison. However, I do not wish to lose my temper, because very shortly, I shall lose my head. Nevertheless, upon leaving this spark of earthly existence, I have this to say: I shall see you all... very soon... very soon.
- Monsieur Verdoux 1947 (if you haven't seen the movie, that's why you need to see it)

Kill these M F'rs. I'm sick of criminals and the liberals who cry for them. Enough is enough!!!
This is the new updated version of "The White Shadow" Where be da coach?
ok Im sorry but these guys KILLED Someone. a hero, father, son, friend, cop, marine....the one that admitted to be the shooter should not even get a trial. i feel bad for Officer Nettletons family who were there....so God help them that they didnt jump over the benches and strangle them all. how would any of you feel if it was you who was the victim in this? there are so many factors that they could have been this or they were raised like that....they KILLED someone!! yes the parents of these guys are victims in the fact their kids will hopefully be locked up forever but at least they will get to visit them in jail...the real victims are Officer Nettletons family...may justice be served and these trials go fast so the family of the slain officer and heal.
This is why I keep a gun in my house. Great comment by sharp. Party time for the big cons.
I just wonder how the family would be reacting if one of these loser thugs were killed by the officer in the line of duty.
Everything would be white cop kills black future leader of America.
Please get these thugs through court soon, so we can hear about their death sentence or life in prison ruling.
I wonder if this was their first killing and how many before this, and how many robberies between all 6 of them.
They are worth nothing, eliminate them !!!
All I hear from the "momma's" of these boys is "these poor kids' lives are over" and exactly how is the officers life not? Or wait, wait wait".they are a product of their environment...WELL GUESS WHAT MOMMAS...YOU PUT THEM IN THAT ENVIRONMENT. Did you ever think about that, or when you attended school did they not talk about common sense??? I'm just sayin!!! More programs, more this more that. Are you serious? BOTTOM LINE: let's say all these "innocent" kids that have to be living in the "Ghetto"... parents give up their welfare checks for ONE month and we will have an event to raise money for programs? How likely is that to happen? Not that important anymore is it??? No matter WHERE U GREW UP...you know right from wrong, believe me, I'm from a rough please, (geeeeehto part of OKLAND) but I still as a PARENT, knowing what a BAD place this would for my children to grow...I GOT OUT before I could ever imagine crying about my "innocent" son that is a murderer. Is it not the parents' responsibilities to do what is right for their kids...? It's called TOUGH LOVE MOMMAS!!!! I blame the Mommas that are cryin now. Pay mo' attention to ya kids!! And get them where it is safe. Or don't complain. (Yes the typos are on purpose, I was appealing to the "less fortunate" with my grammatical errors) the sins of the children lay upon who??? And if he is not there"NEWSFLASH!!! Guess what!!! Yep..u got it!!!OH by the way...Im black!
I LOVE HOW BIASED EVERYONE FEELS ABOUT THIS SITUATION YET NO ONE KNOWS THE TRUTH AND FOR ALL THOSE WHO THINK U WOULD HARM ANY ON OF THE PEOPLE IN THIS PHOTO IS FOOLISH BECAUSE BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER SO TRY IT OUT
