Odor investigation

Firefighters and Southwest Gas Corp. crews today are investigating a foul odor in the northeast Las Vegas Valley today.

So far, there is no indication that a natural gas leak has occurred, but the odor is still under investigation, a Southwest Gas spokeswoman said.

Three schools were locked down about 9 a.m., but the lockdown was lifted at 10 a.m. after the odor was detected near Hollywood Boulevard and Bonanza Road.

Hickey Elementary, Bailey Elementary and Sunrise Mountain High School were on lockdown under a shelter-in-place plan.

The Clark County Fire Department is helping the natural gas utility to investigate the odor.
