Fire investigators are sifting through the ashes of homes under construction in the southwest Las Vegas Valley to determine a cause of an early morning fire.

Clark County firefighters prevented flames from reaching occupied houses in the blaze that started between 5:30 and 6 a.m. today in the Mountain's Edge community near Fort Apache and Gomer roads.

Three of the wooden framed homes burned to the ground and a fourth was partially burned.

Fire investigators have ruled out an electrical spark because power was not supplied to the area.

Some occupied homes had scorch marks but no one was injured.
