Metro Police are investigating a body found in the trunk of a car about 4:55 p.m. Wednesday at the McCarran Marketplace shopping center on Eastern Avenue, between Patrick Lane and Russell Road.

A security guard found the body after noticing that a Ford Taurus had been in the shopping center parking lot for about a month, police said.

The woman who owned the car, who has not been identified, was reported missing by family members on July 25, police said.

Metro Police homicide detectives do not know if the person found inside the car crawled into the trunk from the lowered back seat and then died from the heat, or if the person died as a result of a homicide.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will identify the body and determine the cause of death.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Metro’s Homicide Section at (702) 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
