Two adults, three children escape Henderson fire

House fire

A fire in a Henderson home near Gibson Road and Interstate 215 sent two adults and three children out of the two-story residence, Henderson Fire Department officials said.

Firefighters went to the house at 35 Montagna Mirage St., responding to a call about 9:30 a.m., said Battalion Chief Doug Koopman.

A 16-year-old girl discovered the blaze and called 911, Koopman said. She left the house and firefighters arrived about seven minutes later to find black smoke coming from the front door.

As 29 fire personnel, including five engines, one ladder truck, two paramedic rescue units and a chief officer arrived, firefighters attacked flames in the second-floor laundry room, Koopman said.

The fire was brought under control in about 10 minutes.

A fire investigator, city building inspector and utility companies arrived to help secure the residence, Koopman said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Koopman said. The damage is estimated at $75,000.

The American Red Cross Nevada Chapter is assisting those who have been displaced by the fire.

There were no injuries to the residents or firefighters.
