Air quality advisory issued for smoke from Calif. fire

Clark County air quality officials have issued an advisory for Friday through Sunday due to smoke arriving in the valley from a California wildfire.

The wildfires are burning 26 miles east of Santa Maria in Santa Barbara County and has grown to tens of thousands of acres, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.

Smoke is made of small soot and dust particles and other pollutants that can aggravate respiratory diseases, the Clark County Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management said.

At this time, unhealthy levels of air pollution are not expected to occur. Air quality officials are monitoring the air and will post an alert on the department's forecast page of unhealthy levels of smoke occur in the valley.
