Woman killed
A 62-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing a woman about 7:47 p.m. Monday in North Las Vegas, police said today.
North Las Vegas officers arriving at an apartment at 2566 E. Deer Springs Way said they found a 65-year-old woman who was dead when they arrived. The woman had obvious injuries indicating she was the victim of a homicide, police said.
The preliminary investigation indicates the woman was killed by Melvin Bailey, police said. Detectives arrested Bailey at the scene and took him to the North Las Vegas Detention Center where he was booked for murder with a deadly weapon, police said.
The victim's identity and cause of death have not been released by the Clark County Coroner's Office, which will notify next of kin and conduct an autopsy.
