Man dies in crash blamed on medical incident

Crash location

A 68-year-old man died Monday when an apparent medical incident caused the vehicle he was driving to crash in the north part of the Las Vegas Valley Monday, Metro Police said.

Police did not identify the man who was driving a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The Clark County Coroner's Office will release his name and the cause of death after his family has been notified.

The collision occurred about 12:23 p.m. Monday at Wheeler Peak Drive and Martin Luther King Boulevard, police said.

The Hyundai was going east on Wheeler Peak when the driver left the pavement on the north side of Wheeler Peak and drove into landscaping around a U.S. Post Office on the corner at Martin Luther King, police said.

The vehicle had little damage from the landscaping rocks when it stopped, police said.

The driver was taken to Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The collision remains under investigation by Metro's Accident Investigation Unit.
