Metro Police have arrested a man suspected of shooting an 8-year-old boy on July 25.

Police arrested 22-year-old Carlos Reyes of Las Vegas and booked him into the Clark County Detention Center on two counts of attempted murder, discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle, five counts of child endangerment and one count of battery with substantial bodily harm.

A stray bullet hit the boy as two cars were passing through the intersection, police said. The child was taken to University Medical Center in critical, but stable, condition.

The shooting occurred in the area of Marion Drive and Kell Lane, bringing neighbors together as part of Safe Valley United, a partnership between police and community leaders designed to spread a message against violence as well as working to prevent it.
