Clark County swine flu deaths rise to seven

Southern Nevada health officials are reporting today a total of seven swine flu deaths in Clark County with two more now being attributed to the H1N1 virus.

The Southern Nevada Health District said a 37-year-old man with underlying medical conditions died July 29 and a 52-year-old man who also had underlying medical conditions died on Aug. 1.

The health district received a report of an additional death today, bringing the total to seven, but no details were provided about that death.

Since the novel H1N1 flu strain was reported in the United States in April, Southern Nevada has confirmed a total of 230 flu cases, health officials said.

In early June the health district reported the death of a hospitalized patient who was a resident of New York.

The district also said that one flu patient remains hospitalized with the virus.
