Fatal shooting

Metro Police have arrested a man suspected in the shooting death of another person Thursday morning in the southwest valley.

Officers responded at 9:58 a.m. to the 6800 block of Endora Avenue, near Flamingo Road and South Rainbow Boulevard, to investigate a report of shots fired.

Police encountered a man later identified as 48-year-old Tracy Petkovich, who was standing in the door of a home armed with a gun.

Officers were able to take Petkovich into custody without incident, police said. When officers entered the residence, they found a person dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds, police said.

Homicide detectives arrested Petkovich after a preliminary investigation. He was taken to the Clark County Detention Center and booked on a charge of murder with the use of a deadly weapon as well as a charge of burglary with a deadly weapon. There is no bail on the homicide charge and a $15,000 bail was set for the burglary charge, according to Clark County Detention Center records.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until next of kin are notified, police said. The exact cause and manner of death will be determined by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

An elderly woman inside the home at the time of the shooting was not injured.
