A 4-month-old infant girl has been killed by two pit bulls in a North Las Vegas residence, said Capt. Cedric Williams of the North Las Vegas Fire Department.

A 911 call came in about 11:24 a.m. from a residence in the 1700 block of Eagle View Way in North Las Vegas, Williams said.

The grandmother of the infant was treated for minor injuries, Williams said. She was babysitting at the time of the attack while the parents work.

North Las Vegas Police officers arrived at the home and had to kill the dogs with blood in their fur before officers could reach the infant and the grandmother, police said.

Officers found the infant laying on a bedroom floor. Paramedics pronounced the baby dead from the mauling, police said.

The two pit bulls were killed by North Las Vegas Police officers, he said. Police do not expect to file any charges.

The Clark County Coroner's Officer has not identified the baby girl.
