12-year-old boy dies in golf cart crash
Monday, Sept. 8, 2008 | 1:58 p.m.
A 12-year-old boy, identified as Josh Stevens, has died after being thrown from a golf cart driven by his father Friday in the Anthem Country Club, Henderson Police said.
The father was driving the golf cart at about 10 p.m. Friday with his son on Chenal Pass. As he drove it down the street, he saw a parked trailer with a boat in front of him.
The father swerved to avoid the boat. However, the cart clipped the boat, causing the cart to tip onto two wheels, police said. Both the father and son were thrown from the cart.
The boy was taken to St. Rose Siena Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His father suffered non life-threatening injuries, police said.
The street was in a gated, private community, so it is not illegal for a golf cart to be driven on the street, Henderson police said.
The investigation is continuing and toxicology tests were performed, police said.
