BC police investigate 4 suspicious fires in last month

Investigators say an arsonist might have set them all

Boulder City police are investigating at least four fires last month, three that destroyed residential property, which they believe were intentional and related.

A fire sometime between Oct. 18 and 22 destroyed a tree in the 900 block of Fairway Drive, detective Brett Wibrew said. The fire went undiscovered for several days, he said.

It was the latest in a series of nine blazes since June, all but one near Georgia Avenue and Adams Boulevard, that have police looking for an arsonist.

No one has been injured in any of the fires, Wibrew said. He wouldn’t say if there are suspects.

The series of fires began in garbage cans, Wibrew said, and have escalated to playground equipment and brush.

On Oct. 9 late at night, a blaze destroyed a backyard deck on Mount Williamson Way. Within two hours, early on Oct. 10, two more fires destroyed a shed and part of a backyard on Kendrick Place and a tree on Eighth Street, Wibrew said.

Police believe the four fires last month were related, he said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 293-9224.
