Rancho snatches second place

Playing without star Juan Pattillo for the second consecutive game, Canyon Springs fell to Rancho 57-46 in a battle for second place in the Northeast division.

"We played hard, but we just couldn't convert our lay-ups," Canyon Springs coach Daryl Branham said.

The Rams dominated the boards against the Pioneers for their 20th win of the season.

"They really could have used him," Rancho assistant coach Mark Walsh said of Pattillo.

The Rams were led by Kaylone Riley's 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Walsh said he thought Riley played a great game, blocking "all kinds of" shots.

"I think he had like 10 blocks," Walsh said.

Canyon Springs drops to fourth place in the division and Rancho moves up to second with home court advantage in the playoffs.

Adam Sales led Vo-Tech with 19 points.

Jonathan Robinson led the Cowboys with 14 points.
