First Friday
The Las Vegas Arts District will host "First Friday," a community arts event, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. today on Colorado Avenue. Maps of the district can be obtained from The Funk house, 1228 S. Casino Center Blvd or online at www.firstfriday-lasvegas.org. 384-0092.
Labor Day Dance
The Las Vegas Cultural Affairs Division presents a Labor Day Dance, featuring the Carl Grove Combo, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. Admission is $12 the day of the event, $10 in advance. 229-6383.
Book signing
Graham Nash of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young will sign copies of his photographic collection, "Eye to Eye," at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Barnes & Noble, 8915 W. Charleston Blvd. Admission is free, but no memorabilia please. 242-1987.
Storytime
The Las Vegas Library will offer a free storytime for families at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 2300 Civic Center Drive. 633-1070.
Free workshop

Family films
The City of Las Vegas will show the following films this week as part of its "Friday Night Movies" series. All films are free:

Tai Chi classes
Free classes in the martial art Tai Chi will be taught from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at the District at Green Valley Ranch, near the intersection of Green Valley Parkway and Interstate 215. 851-3082.
Acting classes
Clark County Parks and Community Services is offering free acting classes from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday at Whitney Center, 5712 E. Missouri Ave. Pre-registration is requested. 455-7576.
