Harper hits another home run for 51s

Las Vegas infielder Angel Sanchez drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning Saturday night to force home Jason Lane with the winning run of an 8-7 victory against the visiting Sacramento River Cats.

Brett Harper hit a home run for the fourth straight game for Las Vegas, which won for the fourth time in five games. Harper’s two-run shot in the seventh inning gave Las Vegas a 7-6 lead.

But Sacramento evened the score at seven with an Eric Munson solo home run in the eighth and the game remained tied until the 10th.

Las Vegas took advantage of four walks by Sacramento reliever Brad Kilby to score the winning run.

Harper, who leads the 51s with nine home runs and is second in RBIs with 23, had a run-scoring single to start a three-run first inning. Aaron Mathews added a two-run double and the 51s led 3-0.

Sacramento answered with four runs in the second inning and three in the fifth before Las Vegas rallied for its second straight come-from-behind victory in as many days. Las Vegas trailed 9-0 Friday but rallied for a 14-10 victory behind a pair of home runs from Harper.

The teams continue their four-game series at 12:05 p.m. Sunday at Cashman Field. The series finale is Monday at 10:35 a.m.
