O.J. Simpson

Simpson seeks dismissal of some charges

O.J. Simpson along with two of his co-defendants are seeking dismissal of half the charges filed against them, including kidnapping, robbery and conspiracy, Simpson's attorney said Friday.

Attorney Gabriel Grasso filed court papers Thursday claiming prosecutors didn't meet the evidentiary standards to prosecute the former football star on six of 12 charges against him.

Simpson, 60, is accused of leading five other men in the robbery at gunpoint of two memorabilia dealers who were offering collectibles with ties to Simpson, including the suit he was wearing the day he was acquitted in the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman.

Simpson has denied any knowledge of guns used in the confrontation at the Palace Station. He has said he only intended to take back items that had been stolen from him by a former agent.

Grasso said that Simpson will fight the remaining six charges against him during his trial set to begin April 7. Those charges include burglary, coercion and assault with a deadly weapon.

Charles Ehrlich and Clarence Stewart are being tried with Simpson and have also challenged some of the charges against them.
